Hello, all,

Thank you for your hospitality in hosting this forum!

I will be at a conference in Oslo June 6-8 and was hoping to get in day or two of fly fishing for trout near Oslo. I know there are lots of amazing lakes with great trout fishing, but I would prefer stream/river fishing, as this is my favorite. I am also willing to drive beyond Oslo to fish, especially if there is a place to stay overnight, but probably not more than a couple of hours drive from Oslo, since I don't have a lot of time.

Any recommendations for streams or rivers? Guides? Anyone want a fishing buddy to practice their English with? : )

I would be grateful for any and all tips!

	Thank you,

	David P. (from Boston)

Hi I am a fly fisherman from the UK (and trying to find a way to live/work in Norway).

I am visiting Lofoten this March and the hopefully driving back out early April to Hardangervidda to snowboard/snowkite.

I'd like to have a chance to fish too. I know it's probably too early up North but was thinking I might try for some sea trout on south coast while going for return ferry ( I tried briefly last year)

I am more interested when would be a good time for a return visit later in the year. I have friends in Lofoten and Geilo area and I'd love to visit (and fish!) when the snow has gone! I'm guessing there is great fly fishing on Hardangervidda but not sure about Lofoten (my friend did send me some photos of some sea trout he caught on spinning gear from a boat)

Any help or advice would be great thankyou

	Hi all,

I am planning to visit Norway for the first time in Mid July 2022. We will be staying in South Osterøy, not very far from Osterøy Bridge. And obviously the reason I am here is to get some fishing tips (even though the trip is a family trip, I would love to go fishing a few days with my kids).

My background is mostly in lake, river spinning for Pike, Zander, Perch, also spinning for Salmon in Denmark (Skjern river). I live in Germany (Hamburg) for the past 11 years). Only sea fishing I have done here is for Sea trout from shore in Spring and Autumn.

I used to fish a lot in the sea in Greece where I am originally from, but that fishing (Seabass, Bream ,etc) has probably nothing to do with the type of sea fishing in Norway, apart maybe from Mackerel with Sabiki rigs.

Here are my questions, hopefully it will not be to overwhelming and you might be able to help me a bit.

	1. Equipment. I am a passionate spinning angler and ideally I would prefer some spinning with shads, plastic etc lures for Pollock, Cod from shore. Most of my Zander , Pike rods might be too delicate. I am thinking of buying a couple of 2.50 - 2.70 rods with casting up to 70-100 grs with 4000 role, braided 0.16 - 0.18 and fluo leader. Is it a good combination or would you suggest something other ? Some good lures you would suggest keeping in mind the area and fish ?

	2. July in that area near(but also +- 1-2 Hrs drive is not an issue). What are my chances, which species should I aim for (preference to Pollock, Haddock, Cod etc). I am not in the hunt for records, just wish to enjoy fishing with my kids. From an initial "gut feeling " looking though maps, photos and depths, it seems that under the Osterøy Bridge, would be a pretty decent place. Any one has experience there or around the area to suggest. What time of the day is better ?

I found an app called Fiskher, is the information in there accurate should I install it or even get the premium version ?

	4. I generally catch and release fish, but occasionally I might keep one to eat. Do you know if the water there are clean and safe, because I read some article about areas around Bergen.

	5. Freshwater fishing for Pike , Trout ,etc . Is it worth it in the area are there any lakes you can suggest.

I think that covers it initially. Sorry in advance for the length of my first post but really looking forward to your feedback

	All the best,

	Alex

	Hey guys,

I am gonna be in Bergen for 2 month apprx and I would like to go fishing sometimes. Here are some concerns and any advice will be appreciated:

Ive caught some trouts in Scotland before but I was never expert in it. So was wondering what size of hook, line etc should I usually use when fishing around here of course it depend what I look for, or is it better to go for ready hooks or its ok to use live baits too ( warms, etc)? Any suggestion about where I could find some live baits if needed? Basically I appreciate any advice from you guys. I tried trout fishing in myrdalsvatnet yesterday but no success . Hi all. after dreaming about visiting Norway for a camping/hiking/fishing trip i finally get to do one!
I will be leaving in June taking the ferry to Kristiansand and then driving up to Bergen and Sognefjord where I have rented a cabin.
Do you guys have any tips for fishing in the region? I think i have decent chances for salmon and seatrout from waht i have read but are those fish endangered? I've read a lot about seatrout coming in in less and less numbers because of excessive fishing.
if anyone here could help me out with a few tips (campsites, fishing spots etc.) and also maybe a website where i can read up on numbers and regulations in english that would be great because i really couldn't find a lot of information on that.

However i really appreciate being finally able to go to Norway and fish there. Any help is appreciated at the same time I understand if you don't want to give out too much information about your favorite spots

I would like to try fishing in fresh water, but I dont know the techniques and gear that are needed. What fishing techniques did you use to fish from the shore in a fjord?

	Hello everyone.

This is my first time posting a topic on here.

I was wondering if anyone out there could possibly help me out. I come to Bergen every six weeks or so. Does anyone know where I could possibly fish for trout with either a fly or spinner. I England I do alot of reservoir fishing for rainbow trout and I'm slowly bringing my fishing gear over here. I've got a couple if fly rods and a couple of spinning rods.

Basically I've got 4 questions to ask.

	1. Where can I mainly fish for trout and salmon with either a fly or spinner near Bergen?

	2. Do I need a national road licence and where would I buy a day ticket for the river or lake?

	3. Are there any like that I can fish for in or near Bergen?

	4. Lastly, when I come to Bergen I stay in fyllingsdalen and there's a lake about 200m from me. It's called Storavatnet. Does anyone know if theres any fish in it? Fished a few times without even a bite.

Thank you for taking time to read this.

Hi been in Bergen for over a month now, fished with lures for quite a bit....not a lot, switched to bait with mixed results

salus Kai caught some fantastic wrasse on supermarket prawns ( next to swimming pool)

	nordnes just a small pollack

bontalebo , had one mackerel ( very small) a few wrasse, couple of pollock

strome bro one good cod on spinner

3 bridges in Bergen one good cod on plastic worm

back of airport ( next to ferry landing) one big dab

that is my Total, need to know of anymore places to fish, access by public transport only, was thinking of going for trout, sea ,brown or rainbow, any info where I can fish for these would be great, I am also thinking of maybe spinning or fly fishing for any sea fish or pike, sea spots where I can cast a fly out would be good, and same for pike, I have eventually got frozen bait fish from Asian store....just really need some good sound advice on the area I am living...eg, strome bro...does it only fish on high water? And what side is best?

lot of questions I know but any info I would be grateful

	Dear forumers!

i have got this rod from a friend. I’ve been fishing with it quite a while, and it seems to be a strong fast action rod, but I would like to know more about it. I mean power, line capacity, etc. It is a Cormoran Cortec Karpfenrute, if I am not wrong, but I did not find anything on the internet. Is there anyone who could help me? I am specially interested about line capacity.

	Hi!

I am trying to fish on the open sea for cods. Most of the time when I have a bite on my bottom-fish rig, I set the hook, and at once I’ve been taken into the plants by the fish. Sometimes I manage to land the fish, if it is smaller fish, but most times, my line breaks there. What is the way to land those fishes? I feel by the bite that those ones I cannot land are quite big ones.

	Hi everyone!

I am Christoph from Austria and i’ll be staying in Bergen until february for an internship.

I’ve already had some first success fishing at Sotrabrua, Nordasstraumen and Gjeddevatnet (Fyllingsdalen), but am always looking for more good fishing spots in Bergen.

	I am especially interested in:

	1. spots for spin- and flyfishing for pollocks

	2. deep spots withing casting distance from shore for baitfishing

	3. lakes for pike fishing

	4. rivers where flyfishing for trout is possible

If anyone could help me and recommend some good spots i would be really grateful. As i have a car I don’t mind driving some time to areas that can’t be reached by foot from the citycenter.

	Best regards, Christoph

Hej!

First off great site and great forum! Already found some great advice!

I am new to Norway, transferred here by company. I recently bought some fishing gear (2 spinning rods) and a selection of lures etc.

I have been fishing mostly off the floating pier in Holmen and caught LOADS of Mackerel and Garfish using standard sliding float setup and drift baits.

Also caught 2 fairly small Sea Trout (about 3 lbs each) and a bunch of large Mackerel from the rocky outcrops/peninsula in Sjostrand/Vollen (Elnestangen).

Until when can one expect to catch Mackerel in the Fjord around Oslo? Do they stay here until August? Also, I have been told that those 2 Sea Trout this time of the year in the Fjord was just dumb luck, as they are mostly around rivers now??

Any spinning/float fishing advice for Mackerel and Sea Trout will be greatly appreciated, as I am still learnign the techniques required in Norway.

location to fish around oslo

hi all

We would like to try catching pikes during the winter season.

Wheere usually pikes are spending winter time.

The lake that we use to catch pikes is long and deep, and even in a summer season water is cold (around 15 degrees).

Should we look for it in a deeper water , or maybe around anderwater hills?

	Plz help.

	Dear all,

I am planning to do a kayak fishing trip in my Hobie Revolution kayak in May 2018 to the Mandal area (Skogsfjorden/Mannefjorden), preferably targeting sea trout and pollack. I would greatly appreciate any advice on specific casting lures and trolling lures (wobblers/flies) to use in the springtime (I'm a spinning fisherman, not fly fishing), and other tips for specific spots to fish in the Mandal area.

Cheers and thanks for any info, Theo Boiten, Groningen, The Netherlands

	Hi!

I might be moving to Trondheim next Summer and would appreciate all the info on the fishing possibilities near the city (<20km, the closer the better). Preferably I would fish with a single hand fly rod (3-9 weights) for mackerel, pollock, pike, chub, trout, char, salmon, whatever. I'm not interested in filling my freezer with fish but rather having a frequent chance for decent fishing with a possibility of a bite every now and then Nidelva would have the optimal location, but is it completely closed outside salmon season? Would I get arrested or hospitalized for practising my cast there without a fly during off-season?

Additionally, I might tie a pile of flies to pass the time. Is there a way to sell them legally in Norway without founding a company?

	cheers,

	Lauri

Ps. I'm also interested in ice-fishing, so all tips related to that are also welcome.
