  1. So, like we do it in NKML, when we copy our blog reports and re-post them here, you mean that this is negative for the activity on the FS forum? Does this in some way scare or irritate other users from writing more reports here? What is really the negative effect?

We do this for two reasons, one of which of course is to get more readers to our blog (obviously). But I've always thought that it was a win-win for both our blog and FS. If that's not the case, I could of course stop.

Edit: I also forgot to mention a third reason why atleast I re-post them here: The response.

On the blog, we usually get 0 to 3 comments on the posts, but on here, it's usually much more written response, and even discussion, which you rarely get in the blog comments.

No, it's positive but not as good as exclusive content. The difference would be that FS in and of itself delivers the goods, like it used to, rather than it becoming a recepticle for second hand news. The point being to get people on here and using the forum it needs some attractive content that can't be gotten elsewhere. You can surely see the difference? I for one think there is some value in that.

The blogs are however not the biggest problem, like you say there is traffic for the blog and content for the forum in that relationship and the forum will always trump the blog for feedback and discussion as long as it is alive and kicking.... FB on the other hand is instant gratification, from mobile to wall/group in an instant and instant feedback with lots of ppl logged in constantly. Only way FS can combat that is with a mobile app IMO.

  2. If in a couple of years we start seeing a sizeable quota, I deem it more than likely that whatever lacking infrastructure there may be will be upgraded in order to maximize the gains from the fishing.

Well they filled the net in one shot with skolest and there is s market for that fish...

After going to the trouble of finding out their descaling machinery was under gunned and that the best descaling method is an enzyme bath.... no suggestion of investment. Would it even cost so much to have a couple of processing facilities in mid norway? How much quotas had to say i can't recall but can't see a blue fin fishery being any bigger.

  3. They done a similar test fishery for skolest in 2005(i think). They found out that Norway lacked the infrastructure to prepare the fish properly (descaling mostly) and get it out to the right markets, mainly france.

There is no reason to believe with an ill suited fleet, crews and distribution network that tuna will be anymore viable than skolest.

  4. I Had to have a rana 17 or 530... the cheapest, seaworthy small boats you will find. I went out in a 15 footer once from Hitra, sure as hell won't do it again! I've been caught in 5m swells in boknafjorden in a Rana 17 and it was no problem... little bumpy in a half planer of course.

If I lived on Frøya I would start saving for a bigger boat! I would expect to pay at the very least 20,000 nok, but more likely 30,000+.

If you don't have that kind of money to use on a boat then you will have to wait until end of summer season when people take their boats out of the water, could be a bargain or 2 on offer.

Every foot in length is a bonus, a little shelter (overbygg/kalesje) is a bonus. More seaworthy boat you get = more days on the water. The weather around Frøya is no joke.

  5. By that logic It would be equally important to identify all the fish in the sea actually, perhaps more as there are far more endangered species in the sea. Can you tell the difference between gråhai and pigghå? ål and Havål? If there is a danger that you accidentally take a redlisted species then perhaps we should ban it?

I think the best idea would be to chill the f**k out and stop fawning over these stupid spotty river fish... people only care because they make a fortune off them.

  6. In your own opinion, what prices would you ask for if you were selling (not buying)...

Shimano antares AX braid boat 763050 and Shimano Tiagra 16 filled with sølvkroken extreme braid, both used but decent condition?

Also beat up Century tip tornado ultra lite with one ring replaced, various scratches and hacks in rubber on handle.

Nothing is actually for sale, just weighing up the idea.

Mods feel free to move this if wrong section.

  7. Been a couple of days on Selbusjøen lately (friday and sunday), Primary target was gjedde around Garbergselva chucking frogs around the channels in the grass with a couple of short trolling runs (2 stroke motor not ideal).

Friday was 25C and cloudy and the fishing was good. only 3 fish onboard but contact with at least 10, many lost right by the boat. Only took 2 short trolling runs and hooked one decent gjedde and landed a little half kilo ørret.

Sunday was 32C and sunny, we tried everything, In the grass, open water, deep jigging and trolled (without rig) practically from Garberg-Mebønden-Hoøya-Selbustrand-Tømra-Garberg and all we caught was too much UVA and UVB. Not a single bite... if we don't count the thousands from horse flies and mosquitoes.

Namsenlaks from the forum was out a few times last week when it was cloudy and rainy and took some nice ørret... Maybe he will come with some tips.

  8. Fished a little in stjørdal last night, hoping for mackerel... mate hooked a fairly decent condition trout, not huge but pretty fat. poor bugger had at least 20 lice on it tho, more than I could be bothered picking off it before it was released. I saw far more than previous years as well, hopping around and swimming by close in.
