Nordic Sea Angling (NSA) is an angling-adventure company running several sea fishing camps in Norway. When we consulted the guides working for NSA they all had one common experience:

When catching and releasing big halibuts several of threw up small wolffish that were engulfed a few hours earlier. Wolffish were also found in the stomach content of those few fish keept for eating.

Scary Jerry is the perfect imitation of wolffish and eelpout – an important part of the food sources for halibut resting in shallow water. It comes in realistic or psyched up colors, that will turn on any big halibut, cod etc. All are made with premium quality, chemically sharpened sea fishing hooks, durable painting and active eyes.

Several scientific reports show that halibut spend a considerate part of their lifespan in very deep water. Down here red fish (Sebastes marinus) and rockfish (Sebastes alutus) are the main food source. Not a lot of anglers fish in a depth of 100-300 meters when they go for halibut, but you can be sure that when the big ones move into shallow water they will remember their favorite snack.

The results from our secret test fishing at the Nordic Sea Angling camps suggest that this is not just a lure – it should be considered as an important part of the food chain!
