the fishing was a bit slow that sunday with only small perch ,rudd and small bream being caught ,i think i might have caught my first small chub that day as well .

hi all
Had a fantastic day at nitelva today ,the fish were all over the place .
fish caught were 2 pike ,loads of small stuff roach, rudd ,small bream , perch and to top it of 6 zander ranging from 1.5 kg to nearly 3.5 kg ,i was so pleased because i had never even seen a zander before so as you can tell i was well happy .there was another angler beside me who works for a angling magazine and he caught an impressive 4kg zander which i took pictures of so no doubt you will be reading about it soon (hope he mentions the tall scottish lad that helped him land his fish lol ).

well i thought it was ok and it was a pleasure to me you havengel.
i had a go at the same spot yestarday and nothing but small fish (roach ,rudd, bream, perch ) until the end when i hooked a small asp spinning about 30 cm long and a larger silver fish that snapped me of (not sure if it was an asp or it might have been a foul hooked bigger bream .
the only thing that anoys me about that place is all the rubbish and dead fish everywhere,i counted 2 large dead pike ,2 large dead asp and 2 large dead bream .and 20 to 30 small fish dead on the bank .
i am taking a few bin linners with me next time to tidy up ,becuase every little does help .
i would also like to tell you that a reporter from a fishing magazine came down to fish for asp ,he left with no fish but he left with alot of pictures of dead fish.

Welcome Marcus! I recommend that you buy the newest edition of "Alt Om Fiske" ("Everything about fishing", Norways largest angling magazine) in which you will find an article on Nitelva with information on where in the river to fish for different species. Although you might not understand everything in the article, the map will probably be very useful for getting started anyway. Any particular species you are more interested in? Coarse angling is increasing in popularity in Norway, and the Lillestrøm area is probably the best place in the country for this type of fishing, both with regards to number of species and chances of catching specimens.

I belive you have tried out Langvannet in Lørenskog (the long lake U mentioned.) Lots of roach, pike and perch. Some good size roach can be caught there. The big river at Lillestrøm is Nitelva, and holds over 20 spieces. It is probably the most productive river in Norway, and is absolutely packed with fish. The Norwegian record for pike is caught there (close to 40 pounds), and the river offers good fishing for bream, zander, ide/orfe, chub (in the upper areas), asp and other species. Fishing is free, and you don't need any kind of licences.
thank you for that information ,its a great help to me .
so the fishing is completly free excelant !!!!
i had a walk along the river a few nights ago and there was a massive splash might have been one of those big pike you were talking about ,anyway never caught a bream before or chub or zander so all my basic gear will be sorted out tonight and with a bit of luck i should be on the river tomorrow after my job interview in oslo.
thanks again
