By Ruben KuiperOn 27 Jun 2016 You’re on a holiday in Turkey and decided to take a diving course, but just at that moment when you finally are permitted to take a dive into the deep. You come across an alien-like jelly kind of blob floating in the ocean and you shit your pants. Well this is exactly what happened to a group of divers off the coast of Turkey. They recently encountered a gelatinous blob the size of a car, so perfectly transparent as to almost invisible. According to Michael Vecchione this is just a giant blob of squid spawn As the divers swam closer to the blow and examined it with a flashlight, they still had no idea what they were looking at. It was only after the video was posted online that a possible explanation emerged. According to Michael Vecchione of the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History this blob is the largest mass of squid eggs he’s ever seen. He thinks that it’s most likely the work of a red flying squid. A squid species that can grow up to five feet long and is pretty common. Flying red squids Although the red flying squid is pretty common, the chance divers can encounter these things are very slim. Due to the fact these squid eggs have a very short incubation period, these egg masses usually don’t exist for more than a few days. Furthermore, they’re usually created in much deeper water. So the change that you swim into these things is pretty slim. Original artikkel Svar på innlegget Lenke til kommentar Del på andre sider
